Long Creek Falls is one of the nicest spots we've been to, but unfortunately the photo doesn't reflect that. It was a beautiful sunny day when we visited - good for hanging out, bad for good waterfall shots. Coming from Lake Toxaway, NC, drive down 281 south just into South Carolina and take the 1st right at a sign that points to Hwy 107. At 107 turn left and follow it to the stop sign at Hwy 28. Didn't get a milage, but it's 12-15 miles or so and we passed Oconee State Park on the left. At Hwy 28, turn right, drive 2.5 miles and turn left on Chattooga Ridge Rd (196). There's a sign indicating 'to Hwy 76'. At about 3.5 miles is a stop sign at Earl's Ford Rd. Stay straight and Hwy 76 is a total of 9.2 miles from Hwy 28. Turn left on Hwy 76, drive 2.4 miles and turn right on Damascus Church Rd. Drive another 0.8 miles and turn right on Battle Creek Rd. Go 1.9 miles and turn right on Turkey Ridge Rd. It's a gravel forest road (FS755) and is at the crest of a small ridge. Drive down this well maintained road, passing a parking area for access to the Chattooga River, for a total of 2.8 miles and park in the big grassy area.

FS755I continues on and it looks tempting to continue driving down, but don't. There's only one pull off area, you may come across fallen trees and will get to a ditch/hole where only a very high clearance vehicle can pass. Anyhow, hike down 755I passing 755B on the left at just over 0.1 miles and the pull off area at about 1/4 mile. At just over 1/2 mile is a small circle where the road ends. The path continues past that and is easy to follow, most of it being along an old logging road. At about a mile, you may be able to hear the Chattooga River. At about 1.5 miles, be on the lookout for a path leading down towards the river and the sound of the falls. You know you missed it if the roadbed becomes overgrown and impassable. This path leads several hundred feet down and ends where Long Creek flows into the Chattooga.

We were there just after some torrential rains, so getting back up the couple of hundred feet to the falls was a little difficult. The falls is about 25' high and a favorite area for Chattooga boaters to break for lunch. Just below this point on the river is Deliverance Rock, made famous by the movie. Despite the high water, we were able to climb the rock and cool off under the spray of the falls.
